Hello! My name is Kelly and I’m a mother of 2 – H (boy, born 2007) and Tink (girl, born 2012). I’m a recently single parent and also have a grown-up stepson, J.
Late in 2016 I gave up my job as a childcare professional as, much as I loved working with little ones, it was becoming clear that my own children needed me around more than other people’s! Tink is autistic and we have been on a steep learning curve since her diagnosis in June 2015! You can find more about this in the 'Autism' section of the site.
As well as all the usual parenting issues that befall most of us as we trip and stumble our way through this journey, I have also experienced post-natal depression, as well as clinical depression and anxiety. I have (long ago now, thankfully) been in an emotionally abusive relationship and lived to tell the tale – just. All these things amount to a heck of a lot of life experience, but I’m always learning!
I have recently received my own diagnosis of ADHD, with a strong suggestion I also have an assessment for autism! After several years of watching and learning more about neurodiversity from my children, it became clear to me that I wasn't neurotypical, and after researching ADHD in middle-aged women, I had a private assessment in late 2022.
Receiving the diagnosis has been life-changing. I now know why I do what I do, and there are things right through from childhood to now that just make sense! I am still very new to the world of ADHD, and am learning more about it and about me every day!

My family is my life! We love spending time together (or at least, for a while, until we drive each other mad!).
We enjoy travelling around the country by train (H, J and their dad are train-mad, and Tink seems to be going that way too!) We have a huge car, affectionately named, ‘The Tank’; and we use it as a camper in the summer. We like visiting Devon, Cornwall, Northumberland and North Wales.
I have wonderful parents who have supported me through the good times and bad, the career changes and crazy ideas and who are usually the first to read, like and share most of my blog and social media posts! (Thanks Mom and Dad!)

I write about all aspects of life, including parenting children with additional needs, health and well-being, family travel, reviews and more.
I love to share my photography too. I’m very much an amateur, but I love taking photos of a range of subjects, including food, nature and, of course, my kids. If they stand still long enough!
I'm trying to take better care of myself, and I'm on a mission to help other mums who are in the same boat: tired, unfit, perhaps a bit on the cuddly side...
I am beginning to focus my blog on helping out mums like me – busy, stressed and trying to cram it all in, whilst trying to care for kids with additional needs, so I’ll be offering tips and life hacks, easy family recipes and fun activities for the kids to try at the weekends, as well as information about autism and additional needs.
